The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) requires EU member states to introduce a mandatory programme of energy audits for organisations with more than 250 employees or a turnover of €50m and an annual balance sheet above €43m.
The legislation is forecast to affect over 7,000 UK organisations covering more than 200,000 buildings and 10,000 industrial plants.
Organisations affected by the ESOS legislation must carry out an audit of 90 per cent of its total energy usage for a one-year period. The initial audits will need to be undertaken by 5 December 2015 and subsequent ESOS assessments must be carried out every 4 years.
The talk will cover the background to the ESOS and raise a number of questions posed by the legislation such as:
- Will your organisation do the basics to comply with ESOS or take this opportunity to start an energy efficiency journey to achieve ISO50001 compliance AND make significant energy savings?
- How should you choose a Lead Assessor?
- What are the common misconceptions, even amongst some energy professionals, about what is required under the Government’s onhealthy.net Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme?
- What are the consequences of not reporting on your organisation’s compliance with The Government’s Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) to the relevant body.
