Biomass & Waste to Energy


Stopford Energy & Environment (SEE) has significant expertise in the development and execution of biomass & waste to energy projects, with our first large waste to energy project taking place in Sri Lanka in 2007. Since then our knowledge base has grown from strength to strength within this sector and we regularly have client projects ranging from microwave plasma gasification, pyrolysis and torrefaction to anaerobic digestion and fermentation for the production of protein. Stopford’s biomass & waste to energy clients include multiple multinational companies and we have also received large amounts of funding for our own innovative projects in the sector.

Our diverse multidisciplinary project teams comprise of mechanical, piping, civil & structural, process and EC&I engineers, environmental scientists, chemists, energy consultants and project managers. This allows a flexible approach to project development, whereby specialist consultancy services can be delivered throughout the lifecycle of projects.

Our capabilities span from project feasibility, technology due diligence, regulatory review and financing right through to multidisciplinary engineering design and plant commissioning.
